February 1, 2008Elmsford, New York (January 17, 2008)— Hypres Inc., a leading developer of superconducting microelectronics technology and the All-Digital RFTM product line, named Art Earl director, strategic business development. Earl is responsible for developing strategic partnerships in commercial and government market segments that leverage the All-Digital RFTM product line.
“We are excited to have Art on our team,” said Richard Hitt, CEO of Hypres. “He is wellqualified for this new position as a result of the leadership roles he held within the defense community, including the Missile Defense Agency and Special Operations, developing new dualuse capabilities, managing acquisition programs, and leading technology development initiatives.”
Much of Earl’s 20-plus-year Army career focused on programs related to the advancement of innovative technologies. He led numerous multi-disciplinary technical teams that transitioned new technologies from R&D ideas into useful products. These projects included superconductor microelectronics, chip stacking, satellite communications, neural networks, artificial intelligence, signal intelligence, hybrid vehicles, and transparent armor.
“Art has a strong technical background and proven leadership experience in driving new technologies from R&D to product stages,” said Hitt. “We’re looking forward to the role he’ll play and positive impact he’ll make in our effort to introduce the All-Digital RFTM product line into new markets.”
Earl’s career highlights include managing the modernization of worldwide satellite facilities, overseeing the successful development of presidential and defense hotlines to other world leaders, and pioneering the Defense Department’s efforts in all-digital transceivers for future wireless communications. Earl has received numerous recognitions during his career. His honors include the Legion of Merit Award and Bronze Star. The programs he led also received many honors, including Best Value Engineering Program, U.S. Department of Defense; Best Industry Partnership Award, U.S. Army; and Queen’s Award for Enterprise Development, United Kingdom.
Earl graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and earned a Master of Science degree in strategic and tactical science from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and an MBA in technology management from the University of Illinois.
