Elmsford, New York (June 25, 2008)—Hypres Inc., the leading developer of superconductor microelectronics technology and the Digital-RFTM product line, secured numerous defenserelated contracts during the first quarter (Jan –Mar) of fiscal year 2008. The contracts were related to enhancing the company’s Digital-RFTM technology for challenging wireless applications including military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT).
The company secured numerous Small Business Innovation Research Phase 1 and Phase 2
contracts with the U.S. Army, Office of Naval Research (ONR), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR). Several of these related to superconductor antenna technology: Hypres will develop a Superconducting Quantum Interference Filter (SQIF) antenna for integration with a V/UHF band receiver, a highly linear SQIF antenna for HF directional finding, and an ultra low noise SQIF amplifier for SATCOM antennas.
“Superconductor Digital-RFTM technology demonstrations have proven the value of high performance receivers. This new antenna technology will enhance performance even further,” said Richard Hitt, CEO of Hypres. “Reducing the time from concept to capability is our focus. For instance, the MILSATCOM community needs this capability to realize the full potential of new satellites that deliver secure high data rate networking to the fleet and mobile battlefield. These new contracts target very specific high RF performance applications for our customers.”
Hypres’ Digital-RFTM technology is being developed for each branch of the armed services and a variety of commercial applications. The company is developing a family of related products in its Digital RFTM product line, including receivers, transmitters and transceivers. As with these new antenna contracts, the company continues to integrate other RF capabilities in order to provide complete superconductor system solutions.
