Hypres’s Universal Cryoprobe is a front-end receiver for pre-clinical MRI systems, which can be adapted to any magnetic field strength.
The cryocooled probe, which includes Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), quadrature coils, and an associated cooling system using a SunPower cryocooler operating about 70 K with input power of 160 W demonstrating 7 dB Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) improvement without a shield and 3 dB with a shield. The probe is designed to mount onto the magnet utilizing a custom-made latching mechanism. At ~70 K operation, SNR improvement on the order of 10 is possible for small quadrature coils.
